Description

The TaylorMade BRNR Mini Driver is a nod to nostalgia, drawing inspiration from the timeless appeal of the TaylorMade Original One, but it’s packed with modern innovations for today’s golfer. Designed as a versatile alternative to a traditional driver, this compact club offers precision and power, making it a perfect choice for tighter fairways or as a reliable backup off the tee. If you’ve ever struggled with long-iron or fairway wood consistency, this mini driver might just become your new best friend.

While it shines on the tee box, the BRNR Mini Driver also excels in tricky scenarios, such as punching through gusty wind conditions or navigating narrow holes. Whether you’re a pro or a weekend warrior, it’s adaptable enough to suit various playing styles.

Readers can expect an in-depth description of the product’s features, user opinions, reviews, videos, comparisons, and attractive market offers for this standout club.

Modern golf driver featuring a glossy carbon fiber head and advanced design for optimized weight and performance
Premium quality golf driver with a sleek carbon fiber head, engineered for improved accuracy and distance
  • Versatile materials for premium performance: The Taylor Made Original One utilizes a combination of carbon fiber, titanium, and steel to deliver exceptional sound, feel, and flight quality. Its striking modern design is complemented by adjustable split weights, allowing golfers to switch between the standard setting (13g in the back) for balanced performance or a low spin setting (13g in the front) that creates a more piercing trajectory with increased roll-out distance.
  • Advanced sole design promotes consistency: The innovative K-SOLE design of the Taylor Made Original One features a unique “K” shape. This enhances turf interaction by reducing resistance, enabling a smoother glide and helping golfers perform reliably even on challenging surfaces. This feature makes it easier to achieve “driver off the deck” distances, often combined with the consistency you’d expect from higher-lofted fairway woods.
  • Technologies for straighter and optimized shots: Equipped with Twist Face, a Thru-Slot Speed Pocket, and a 4° Loft Sleeve, the Taylor Made Original One empowers golfers to improve their game. Twist Face technology corrects inherent miss-hit tendencies for straighter shots. The Speed Pocket maximizes ball speeds and enhances forgiveness on lower-face strikes. And the adjustable 4° Loft Sleeve lets players fine-tune loft and face angle for ideal ball flight.
  • Nostalgic retro design for your collection: The BRNR Mini Driver, part of the same standout Burner family, is a celebration of the late-90s era. With copper tones and retro-inspired logos, it evokes the classic Ti Bubble 2 driver while offering modern performance capabilities. This design blends state-of-the-art technologies with striking aesthetics, ensuring functionality and appeal for golfers with a sense of sports history.

Revolutionary golf driver with advanced Twist Face technology designed to deliver exceptional accuracy and powerful driving performance.

The BRNR Mini Driver by TaylorMade is a revolutionary addition to the Burner family, drawing inspiration from the iconic late-90s designs like the Ti Bubble 2. This club is crafted for golfers who prioritize both control and accuracy, especially off the tee, or for those who struggle with conventional drivers. Featuring Movable Weight Technology (MWT), it allows players to fine-tune their performance with two distinct settings: a balanced option for versatile play or a low-spin configuration for a lower, piercing trajectory. Whether you’re aiming for fairway precision or an optimized roll out, this driver aims to make an impact.

Combining cutting-edge construction with premium materials like carbon fiber, titanium, and steel, the BRNR Mini Driver delivers outstanding sound, feel, and playability. The unique K-SOLE design enhances turf interaction, offering “driver off the deck” distance with the confidence of a higher-lofted fairway wood. Meanwhile, its nostalgic copper tones, retro logos, and overall aesthetic pay homage to TaylorMade’s rich history, making it a modern club with a touch of classic style. Golfers will appreciate these details as much as the stellar performance.

Additionally, the BRNR Mini Driver is equipped with tour-proven technologies such as Twist Face, the Thru-Slot Speed Pocket, and a 4° Loft Sleeve for adjustable flight control. These features, combined with the driver’s innovative design, enable forgiveness, enhanced speed on low-face strikes, and customizable loft and face angles. Ultimately, the BRNR Mini Driver brings both nostalgia and cutting-edge performance—serving as a testament to TaylorMade’s legacy while carving its place in the future of golf technology.

TaylorMade Original One: Comprehensive Review on the New Driver’s Key Metrics

Feature Description
Golf Club Loft (11.5 Degrees)

Excellent
The loft is crucial as it defines the trajectory and control of the ball. With 11.5°, this driver excels in providing a balance between accuracy and distance, especially for mid-handicap golfers. The standard market loft range for drivers is typically between 8-12°.
Golf Club Flex (Stiff)

Good
Stiff flex shafts are designed for faster swing speeds (90-105 mph), providing better control and optimizing distance for many players. While common, it’s better suited for experienced golfers aiming for straighter ball trajectories compared to the regular flex.
Material (Steel with Graphite Shaft)

Excellent
Steel and graphite combination represents a robust and lightweight design, offering durability and swing speed equilibrium. Standard materials for high-quality drivers match these specs, making the TaylorMade Original One a standout performer.
Item Weight (13 Grams)

Average
At 13 grams, the head weight aligns with precision-focused control drivers but might hinder those seeking higher swing speeds. While lightweight, slightly heavier options deliver greater momentum for players with stronger skills.
Warranty (2 Years)

Good
A 2-year warranty is a substantial inclusion, reflecting confidence in product durability. Many similar brands, like Callaway or Ping, offer warranties ranging from 1-3 years, maintaining industry standards.

Taylor Made Original One: Real Users Share the Highs and Lows

Improved Accuracy and Forgiving Play

Mark Davis noticed immediate improvements in accuracy when switching to the TaylorMade BRNR Mini Driver. After just two rounds, his fairway-in-regulation rate doubled while only sacrificing a modest 10 yards in distance compared to his regular 460cc driver. He praised it as a true “fairway finder” that instilled confidence during his swing. Mark enthusiastically concluded, “Keeping the ball in play off the tee is why I bought this club, and it delivers!”

Exceptional Versatility for Challenging Situations

Anthony appreciated the Mini Driver’s versatility, describing it as “perfect for tight drives and long par 5s.” He loved its performance both off the tee and off the deck, noting that the classic TaylorMade aesthetics were a welcome bonus. This usability in various situations makes it a reliable addition to your bag for players looking for maximized control with minimal setup adjustments.

An Accessible Option for Struggling Drivers

Amazon reviewer “Linda” referred to this club as a game-changer for users who struggle with traditional drivers. She highlighted how it provided better control than her previous drivers while maintaining impressive distances, saying, “Hit it further than my driver, easier to control. Highly recommend!” This club’s smaller head inspires confidence, making it ideal for anyone seeking consistency off the tee.

Mixed Performance: Not a Perfect Fit for Every Golfer

Greg Craig found the Mini Driver harder to justify, stating, “Harder to hit off the deck than a 3-wood and less forgiving off the tee than a normal driver.” He admitted the club looks great but felt it lacked clear purpose in his bag. He would have preferred investing in the Ping G430, which offers better adaptability for his needs.

Disappointing Quality Control

Reviewer “H” expressed disappointment with visible flaws upon receiving the club, such as scuff marks on the face and uneven seals. While these didn’t affect performance, they left an underwhelming first impression, especially considering the premium price tag. As H put it, “For the amount of money, I expected fewer flaws.”

The TaylorMade BRNR Mini Driver shines as a powerful, forgiving club for players who thrive on control and accuracy. However, it may fall short for those who need versatility or demand flawless craftsmanship. Evaluate your priorities to determine if this mini driver is the perfect match for your game.

The most helpful positive feedback Reviewed in the United States on October 7, 2023 by woods, and is titled “So far so good”

I took this new mini to the range today (13.5 stiff). I hit 18 of 20 balls straight and long. I probably lost about 10-15 yards of distance from my large head driver. But I gained a ton of control. Definitely worth the purchase! Only strange thing is that it did not come with the wrench. You can make adjustments so it would have been nice to have that.

Understanding More: Questions Answered and Explained

What is the primary purpose of a mini driver, and how does it compare to traditional drivers and fairway woods?

A mini driver bridges the gap between a traditional driver and a fairway wood. It’s designed for golfers who want the distance of a driver but with greater control and accuracy. It’s especially useful off the tee and can even function as a “driver off the deck” for shots from the fairway. Compared to traditional drivers, it has a smaller clubhead for better precision, and compared to fairway woods, it delivers more power and distance.

What do the split weights on this club actually do?

The club features Movable Weight Technology with split weights that allow customization of ball flight. Positioning the heavier weight (13g) in the back promotes a higher launch and a balanced, forgiving trajectory. Placing the heavier weight in the front reduces spin for a lower, piercing trajectory and additional roll out upon landing. This adjustability lets golfers fine-tune the club for their swing style and course conditions.

What is the K-SOLE design, and why is it beneficial?

The K-SOLE design is a unique feature that enhances turf interaction. Its distinctive “K” shape minimizes resistance when the club strikes the ground, promoting consistent contact and performance. This design makes the club ideal not only for tee shots but also for fairway versatility, giving golfers the ability to achieve driver-like distance off the deck with smoother clubhead glide through various lies.

How does the BRNR Mini Driver’s nostalgia factor impact its design and appeal?

This club pays homage to the late-90s Burner drivers, particularly the iconic Ti Bubble 2, with its copper hues and retro-inspired logos. The throwback aesthetics do more than just appeal to longtime golf enthusiasts; they add a sentimental connection while still delivering modern performance. It’s a blend of past and present, drawing on classic roots to inspire confidence and excitement in every swing.

How does the Twist Face technology improve performance?

Twist Face is a technology designed to correct common mis-hit tendencies. The face of the club is slightly twisted to guide off-center strikes—like heel or toe hits—back toward the target line. This results in straighter shots even when the contact isn’t perfect, making it an excellent choice for golfers looking to improve accuracy while maintaining confidence at address.

Can I adjust the loft on this club, and what are the advantages of doing so?

Yes, the club includes a 4° Loft Sleeve that allows for customization of loft and face angle. Adjusting the loft can help golfers optimize their launch angle and spin rate depending on the conditions or their personal swing characteristics. Whether you need higher loft for more carry or lower loft for piercing ball flight, the adjustment system offers flexibility for a variety of playing styles.

Who is this club best suited for?

This mini driver is ideal for golfers who place a premium on accuracy and control, either because they struggle with the bulkier nature of standard drivers or because they want a reliable tee option for tight fairways. It’s also excellent for players who enjoy “driver off the deck” versatility without sacrificing distance. Its retro design and advanced technology make it appealing to a broad range of golfers, from nostalgic veterans to those looking to refine their game with innovative features.

  1. Kyle G.

I have struggled with controlling my driver for years and often opp for a 5 wood or 4 iron off the tee as it gives me a much higher probability of keeping the ball in play. I decided to give the BRNR Mini a try and its been a game changer. the shaft was an S flex but I found it super “whippy” and hard to control so I swapped it out to a 6.0 flex Black HZDS smoke that I had on my 3 wood and its way better for me personally. I also found the ball flight a bit too low on the 11.5 degree head, so I set it to the “highest setting” and had the grip re-centered on the shaft for alignment. All in all, it doesn’t go as far as a driver would but it is way more consistent and my dispersion is a lot tighter. As for ball alignment, I wish there were videos on this online or on youtube but I couldn’t really find anything. Basically, I have found that you tee the ball so that the top of the ball is just over the top of the club face and hit it like a fairway wood. I found that if I tee’d the ball too high, my dispersion increased and it was harder to control. All in all, I’m super happy with it.

    Good until in breaks

After using the product for two months, one round after a normal shot the face broke. I was loving the product until it broke. I’ve been asking for warranty to Taylormade, but so far they are not helping me. As I’m not from US, they are not offering me a product replacement. Its a shame that a big company like Taylormade does not treat customers as they should

    Great Club

Off the tee or off the deck. This club is the perfect in between. Gives me the distance and control I was looking for with tight drives. Long par 5’s are not a problem with this in your bag. Classic TaylorMade look was a pleasant bonus. Highly Recommend

    Better than expected…

I received a Taylormade BRNR Mini Driver from Amazon this week and I have to say that the performance is better than expected… One session at the practice range and in the bag it went… Two rounds later and the BRNR has more than doubled my FIR’s while only losing about 10 yards to my 460cc driver… I’m sure I’ll get those yards back and more as I gain confidence in the club, tune the settings and increase swing speed… Keeping the ball in play off the tee is why I bought this club and it is a true fairway finder… 5 star… NOTE: I bought this club on Amazon and two days later Taylormade announced the 2024 version of this club… Although peeved a bit that I missed getting the 2024 model by two days, I am still happy with my purchase…

A real game changer – love it!

I went from a Ping G425 to this after struggling to hit fairways consistently (10 handicap). The Mini Burner absolutely delivers in the accuracy department, with only a minimal difference in distance, ~10 yds. or so. It’s also a beautiful club that inspires confidence at setup. Recommended!

    Quality Control

I was stoked when I received the club on my doorstep. After opened the package and inspecting the club, as anyone would after spending this amount of money without seeing the product first, I noticed a few flaws. None of these though should affect proformance. On the cap of the club head the epoxy or glue or whatever is used to assemble the club, I’m not clubmaker, had what to appear to be heavy in areas and leaked slightly out of the sides of the seal. Also on the twist face there are scuffs leading off the face to the rounded edges of the face. I’m still excited to hit and play the club but for the amount of money the club is I just assumed the flaws on the club would have been more minimal.
