Ask & Know: Your Questions Answered
How does the slope feature work and can it be turned off for tournaments?
The slope feature measures the angle of inclination or decline that you’re dealing with on the golf course and calculates slope-adjusted distances for enhanced accuracy. The great news for those participating in tournaments is that this function can be easily turned off with just a click, ensuring the device is tournament-legal.
What is P.A.T (Pin Acquisition Technology) and how does it help in finding distances?
P.A.T or Pin Acquisition Technology is designed to help you lock onto the pin from up to 300 yards away even if trees or other obstructions are present. This feature ensures you receive the most precise, unobstructed distance readings to the flagstick for improved decision-making on which club to use.
How does the “Birdie” feature work?
The “Birdie” feature provides audio feedback by emitting a chirp sound when the laser successfully locks onto the pin. This confirmation helps ensure you have accurately measured the distance, boosting your confidence in measuring shots during your round of golf.
Is the Callaway rangefinder suitable for use in all weather conditions?
Absolutely! The device is designed to be water and fog resistant, with a rating of IPX4, so it can hold up even in testing weather conditions. You’ll get reliable performance whether it’s raining or you encounter fog on the golf course.
Does the Callaway rangefinder require batteries, and are they included?
Yes, the rangefinder uses a CR2 lithium battery. While the device does require these batteries to operate, please note that the package does not include them. It’s a good idea to purchase them separately to have your rangefinder ready for use.
How far can the Callaway rangefinder measure, and what is its accuracy level?
The device offers a remarkable measurement range from as close as 5 yards, all the way up to 1000 yards, boasting an impressive accuracy of +/- 1 yard. This ensures great reliability not just for distant shots but also when precision is critical on shorter distances.
Will the rangefinder help beginners in deciding which club to use?
Definitely! The rangefinder provides precise distance measurements to pins, hazards, and more, helping beginners make informed decisions about which club might be best for their shot. This pushes up your golf game, no matter your level of experience, letting you focus on improving your swing.

Get’s the job done
OK, so, I read a bunch of reviews before my purchase and decided to give this rangefinder a try. I had a Bushnell that bounced off the cart (I wasn’t driving) and into a creek at the end of last golf season. I had planned to just bite the bullet and buy another $400 Bushnell. But, saw this for less than half the price and with 4.7 stars and over 11K reviews, how bad could it be? It arrived today and works as advertised. Quick acquisition and seemingly accurate distance based on common sense and golfing for over 40 yrs. It’s Jan in Michigan so, just shot some signs, light posts, etc., outside my office. I like that the vibration occurs even on objects like a car or, whatever. It doesn’t require a pin to get confirmation feedback. So, the main reason for the high review before ever taking it out on a golf course is simple operation, quick acquisition, and very strong magnet relative to size and weight. I don’t think this one is coming off a cart. If so, I’m probably off the cart as well. If your looking for a rangefinder that has clear optics and quite frankly just measures the distance to things easily and accurately, then this appears to be a good choice. I can’t speak to durability given it just arrived but, I’m impressed with this little fella so far. If there any negatives or, at least insights I can offer, it is quite small. I have probably average size hands and this thing is small. Not so small that it’s weird but, definitely an adjustment from the Bushnell. Also, the Amazon page claims it doesn’t include a battery. Well, it does. So, my purchase of 4 batteries was essentially unnecessary but hey, I got the Amazon ones for like $10 or whatever. I probably would have held off on additional batteries had I know it included one. The Bushnell unit I had would last a year or more (30+ rounds) on a battery so, now I have spares to give to buddies. I’ll update this review after a winter golf trip and/or next season if there are any changes in my opinion. For $170, if it lasts a couple of seasons, seems like a reasonable buy.

Best bang for the buck
As good as a bushnell, no complaints at sub $200.

Keep out of direct sunlight
It takes some getting used to and have to try a few times to get a correct reading. Still learning it but do like it a lot,
Jim R. –
Excellent range finder..!
I’m very impressed with this range finder. It determines the distance very quickly and I love the vibration that signifies it has gotten a lock on the flag. It’s very small and easy to manipulate. Love the magnet that keeps it right at your fingertips on the cart windshield frame.
Crown General agency –
Small and precise
Looks super good, does what all the expensive ones do for 1/4 the price and it’s 1/2 the size of the others. Good stuff

Accurate and great size
Very accurate distances and the price is right. Incline and decline slope readings is a great feature. I keep a spare battery in my bag but the battery life is incredible. When not in use, this device shuts off automatically. After the winter, I pulled this out of the bag in April and the battery lasted that Spring, Summer and Fall without changing the battery. I’ll see what happens this coming Spring when I bring it out again. Think I will change the battery anyway. Highly recommend this range finder. Callaway Golf 300 Pro Laser Rangefinder is a homerun.
Michael Panlasigui –
Nothing but frustration
Fails to provide a distance reading about half the time. Worked with IZZO golf since it was still under warranty. They were happy to send replacement(s), but after 3 units behaving the same way, I can only conclude this is a poor quality product.

Great buy
Great buy when you can catch this on sale. Super accurate readings and easy to use. Battery life has been really good so far, too. Worth every penny.
YL Xiao –
So far so good
I liked the compact size and very easy to spot on the range, love it!
Kid –
Easy to use and seems very accurate
This is a relatively inexpensive range finder that works well and is easy to use. It’s not the most advanced, but it is really all you need. I can’t comment on its longevity or battery life since I’ve only used it for a few months, but it seems to be worth it so far. I have recommended this to a few people and all of them have said they really like it.
Brad Brestel –
Small hand-held range finder, easy to use
I like that it is small and easy to use right out of the box
Stephen –
Very accurate rangefinder
I like this rangefinder it’s very accurate and easy to use. It also has a very strong magnet so it will attach to your golf cart easily. It’s Easy to read, but I’m not sure about the durability.

Nice rangefinder
Got a very good price on this rangefinder on the Black Friday sale. I have a cheaper one that I bought a couple of years ago. This one is much better at picking up the flagstick. Not as good as some of my friends’ rangefinders, but also a much better price. A very good deal for what you get.
Paul J. Barker –
Nice rangefinder
First and only golf rangefinder I’ve owned. Used rangefinders for hunting for years. Works good and has quick acquisition of flag. Like the small size and magnet for cart. Another great Callaway product

The info you really want
You hear it’s small, but it’s great in the hands. Just for reference I wear l/xl gloves. The magnet works good. It locks on and reads well. Buttons are good. It takes CR2 3V battery. All you need, and very appealing. I got the LE smoke. Definitely one you won’t regret. You don’t need a 400-500 one. Just get this and play more rounds of golf. Reads bunker lips which I care about most.
Just an Alabama Country Boy –
This works great
The rangefinder arrived quickly and I got to use it the next day. It’s very easy to use and really helps with club selection. So much better than trying to guess the yardage. Even better was the price. I love it.
Joseph Mullen –
My go to range finder.
What more could you ask for a range finder. Has extremely good range and it’ll definitely give you the true distances. Amazing battery life. It’s a rugged piece of hardware and has a magnetic side to stick on the gold cart. The carrying case is just as good and holds the range finder no problem. Sleek and smooth design especially with the carbon fiber look. Super functional and durable. Carrying case comes with a carabiner and will lock onto your golf bag so it won’t get lost.
PT Jones –
Nice!
It grabs the pin quickly and is easy to hold steady, I like the smaller size. Nice strong vibrate and a strong magnet. For $199, what’s not to like!

Quit working
I bought this exactly one year ago November 2023. It worked great for that 1 year. Simple easy to use fairly accurate. Then it stopped. I’ve replaced the battery multiple times and it works for about a day and stops. Not sure why but I wouldn’t buy again. Maybe I just got a dude or maybe you get what you pay for……
Mike mikulski –
Great value
Easy to use, durable, intuitive
Ted –
Do not buy
Very difficult for it to lock on to flag. Takes a very long time to lock on.
Rosco –
Works
Can get a yardage on the flag stick and interim points like sand traps with ease. Works very well. Battery, not rechargeable, but small issue as changes are not often needed.
El pedido llegó a tiempo. –
Excelente y manual
Ha sido una gran compra. Funciona muy bien, cabe en una mano sin problema (incluso para niños) y la batería dura mucho tiempo.

Was great before I left it on a cart!
I knew the magnet would get me. Lasted 5 rounds. Left on cart. Gone forever. Whoever inherited this fancy golf lasermascope, enjoy. ='(
