About Phoenix Gold Golf & Country Club
Located around 30 minutes outside Pattaya, Phoenix Gold’s 3 nine-hole courses are set amongst naturally furling parkland, delivering incredible vistas on lots of holes. The course was originally created by Denis Griffiths in 1993 and the three courses are spread over more than 1,000 rai.
Phoenix Gold Golf & Country Club was refurbished in 2015 and has subsequently hosted the Kings Cup, The Thailand Open, and a variety of other prominent worldwide tournaments since reopening. The restorations have been done by Thai golf course designer Pirapon Namatra, who is known for producing a few of Thailand’s best courses.
The Mountain Course affords the golfing enthusiast a beautiful viewpoint of famous regional landmark, Khao Chi Chan Buddha, with the finest viewpoint being the fairway of the signature 6th hole. The neighboring mountain, with a large sheer-cliff face that is easily seen, has an impressive laser-carved image of Buddha. The 3-dimensional quality of The Mountain Course’s fairways checks the golfing enthusiasts’ ability and judgment at each stroke. The greens are designed to supply opportunities for golfers’ to show their putting abilities. The narrow swelling fairways and the quick greens will provide a stern test for all golfers.
The Ocean Course is typically a favourite with most players of all abilities. Its current upgrade has seen much of the lower shrubs and redundant trees being cleared to allow the players a view of the lovely far-off mountains to the north and the ocean to the east. The Ocean Course gradually increases in elevation from holes # 4 to # 6 and looking back, any golfing enthusiast can appreciate panoramas of the surrounding countryside.
The Lakes Course treats players who can keep their drives on line in order to guarantee the best position for your layup to the greens. The course is sprinkled with numerous small lakes and stunning ponds with a few strategically-placed trees and bunkers to challenge most golfers.
