About Riverdale Golf Club
Riverdale is a first rate golf club close to several other well-known golf clubs in Bangkok clustered around Don Mueang International Airport. Being situated in a river delta, Bangkok’s many golf courses tend to share a defining characteristic; for the most part they are flat. At Riverdale Golf Club the designers, Jon Morrow and Al Tikkanen wanted to create a Bangkok course with the added challenge of elevation changes.
Design partners Jon Morrow and Al Tikkanen have certainly crafted an appealing and difficult challenge, including ‘up hill and down dale’ golf not previously seen in the Thai Capital’s mainly flat golf geographies. Numerous holes present play from raised tees to fairways set out in valleys beneath. Forested hillsides and waste locations with native turfs put together the most plainly noticeable golf holes in Bangkok. Nature will play its part – pockets of wetlands produce wildlife sanctuaries and possibly a brand-new environment for Open Bill Ibises which typically migrate every year from as far afield as India, Sri Lanka and Vietnam. Continuing the ‘environmentally friendly’ style, Riverdale includes Salam Paspalum on fairways and tees, and the most recent ‘ultra-dwarf Miniverde’ on greens.
