About Subhapruek Golf Course
Situated conveniently between Bangkok city centre and Suvarnabhumi Airport, Subhapruek is around a 45 minute drive from downtown Bangkok or about 25 minutes from the airport.
Opened in 1993 the course is a relatively flat parklands style course in the Bang Na area of the city and was formally known as the Bang Na country club. Due to its location and relatively good value, Subhapruek Golf Club is popular with locals, expats and visiting golfers alike.
Famed designer Pete Dye of Dye Design lovingly converted an area of 500 rais of flat marshy rice fields into a tranquil environment of rolling and undulating fairways that appear narrow but open up well around landing zones. The fairways are often straight lines with the use of palm trees and water coming into to play on every hole.
The course design is not favourable for golfers that tend to hook or slice, however, those who play with precision using shorter drives will thrive at Subhapruek.
The course itself is characterised by beautifully shaped bunkers, big lakes, and mature trees, lush gardens with different tropical floral vegetation and spectacular waterfalls with glistening brooks, all aesthetically and strategically placed to provide the finest golfing terrain in greater Bangkok.
Subhapruek should be added to any Bangkok or Thailand golf itinerary regardless of your entry and departure point.
Subhapruek Golf Course Tee Times and Green Fees
First tee off is at 6:00AM with last tee times starting around 14:30PM. The course is closed on Mondays.
The green fees are very reasonable for Bangkok starting at THB1600 for a weekday round and THB2450 for a weekend round. The club also runs promotions from time to time, it’s best to call the number below and enquire before arriving.
Caddies
The caddies at Subhapruek Golf Course could be a little better trained and bizarrely, at times there aren’t enough caddies working to escort visiting golfers around the course. In most other countries this wouldn’t be a problem, however, in Thailand most courses enforce a no caddy no play rule.
Facilities
The facilities at Subhapruek Golf Course are average for Bangkok and more than well suited to the bargin price of the course. There are certainly a lot worse facilities for a lot more money in Thailand. The clubhouse restaurant serves mainly Thai and Japanese cuisine, mainly catering for visiting Asian golfers.
Course Maintenance
The course is generally very well maintained, however, it can get a bit waterlogged during wet season due to it being in a low lying area. This however, is a common feature of several Bangkok courses.
